LAMINATE GLASS
Laminated glass is two or more sheets of glass bonded around a plastic interlayer. When it breaks, the interlayer holds the fragments in place instead of letting them fall, which is why it is used in overhead glazing, balustrades, shopfronts and anywhere a falling pane would be dangerous.
It also blocks over 99% of UV, so it is the right choice where furnishings, artwork or timber floors would otherwise fade. The interlayer damps sound as well, making laminated glass noticeably quieter than single glazing of the same thickness.
Our range covers 6.38mm and 10.38mm clear laminate, 6.38mm and 10.38mm translucent laminate, and 13.52mm, 17.52mm and 21.52mm toughened laminate. The decimals describe the make-up: 6.38mm is two 3mm sheets with a 0.38mm interlayer. The toughened laminate weights are two toughened panels bonded with a 1.52mm clear EVA interlayer, and are used for structural balustrades and pool fencing.
Translucent laminate uses a white interlayer, giving privacy and diffused light in a single panel. It is a good option for bathroom glazing and internal partitions where you want obscurity without a textured surface.
