Which thickness?
- 6mm — protective covers over an existing solid surface, where the glass is supported everywhere.
- 10mm — smaller table tops on a solid base, side tables, coffee tables.
- 12mm — dining tables and anything with a span between supports.
- 15mm — large dining tables, wide spans, or where you want the substantial look of a thick edge.
The span between supports matters more than the overall size. Tell us the base arrangement and we will tell you what we would use. Low iron glass removes the green tint you see on the edge of thick clear glass.
Toughened glass, edges and corners
- Toughened: a table top is something people lean on and sit against, so it should be safety glass. Select Yes for toughening on the product page. Toughened glass is around five times stronger than ordinary float glass and breaks into small blunt pieces rather than shards.
- Polished edges are the default and give a smooth, finished edge all the way around.
- Safety corners take the sharp point off all four corners of a rectangular top for $32.
- Round tops are cut and polished on a CNC machine. Choose Round on the product page and enter the diameter.
- Holes or cut-outs, for example for an umbrella, are made before toughening. Send us the sizes and a sketch through the quote form and we will price it.
How to measure
