10MM LOW IRON GLASS (SUPER CLEAR)

10mm low iron glass, sometimes called super clear or optically clear. The iron oxide that gives ordinary float its green cast has been substantially removed, so the glass reads close to colourless — most obviously in the exposed edge.

Frameless shower screens and display work at a structural weight, without the green cast standard glass would show at this thickness.

The difference is worth paying for wherever the edge is visible or a colour sits behind the glass. Inside a dark cupboard you will not notice it. At 25 kg per m², a 1m x 1m panel is about 25kg. Any panel fitted in a door, beside a door, in a bathroom, or below 500mm from floor level must be safety glass under AS 1288. Specify toughening when you order — toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled afterwards.
