More details, delivery & FAQs

Which mirror do you need?

  • 4mm silver is the standard choice for bathroom vanity mirrors, wardrobe and hallway mirrors, and anything up to about 1200 × 1800mm glued flat to a wall. About 10 kg per m².
  • 6mm silver is stiffer and flatter, so large mirrors reflect without ripple. Use it for full walls, gym and dance studio mirrors and big feature mirrors. About 15 kg per m².
  • Bronze or dark grey gives a warm or smoky reflection for feature walls, bars and cabinet fronts. Both are supplied toughened.

Polished or bevelled edges?

A polished edge is smooth, flat and safe to touch. It suits a frameless mirror glued to the wall and is the usual choice. A bevelled edge is ground at an angle around the face of the mirror, which catches the light and gives a framed look without a frame. Bevelling is available on rectangular and square silver mirrors.

Round mirrors

Choose Round on the 4mm or 6mm silver mirror page and enter the diameter. Round mirrors are cut on a CNC machine and polished all the way around. Popular sizes for a bathroom vanity are 600mm and 800mm.

How to measure

  • Measure the space in millimetres, width first, then height.
  • For a mirror between walls, cabinets or a splashback, take 3–5mm off each side that meets something, so it fits without forcing.
  • For a vanity mirror, a common rule is the width of the vanity or a little less, with the bottom edge 100–200mm above the tap.
  • Check the size twice. Mirrors are cut to order and cannot be made smaller afterwards without recutting.

Hanging a frameless mirror

Most frameless mirrors are fixed with a mirror-safe neutral cure silicone or mirror adhesive, applied in vertical strips so air can circulate behind. A J-channel or two bottom clips takes the weight while the adhesive cures. Ordinary acetic (vinegar-smelling) silicone can damage the mirror backing, so use one labelled safe for mirrors. Large or heavy mirrors are best hung by a glazier.

A standard mirror is not safety glass. Where a mirror could be walked into or knocked, such as a gym wall, a wardrobe door down to the floor or a shower, ask us about a safety-backed mirror, or choose a toughened bronze or dark grey mirror.

Common questions

How much does a mirror cut to size cost in Melbourne? 4mm silver mirror is $158 per m² and 6mm is $210 per m², plus polished edges at $13 per metre. A 600 × 900mm polished mirror is $173.32 and a 600mm round mirror is $258.46, delivery included.

Can you cut a round mirror? Yes. Choose Round on the silver mirror page and enter the diameter. Round mirrors are polished all the way around.

What thickness should a mirror be? 4mm for most bathroom, wardrobe and wall mirrors. 6mm for large mirrors, full walls and gyms, where the extra stiffness keeps the reflection flat.

Do you do bevelled mirrors? Yes, on rectangular and square silver mirrors, at $31 per metre of edge. A 600 × 900mm bevelled mirror is $227.32 delivered.

How long does it take? Most Melbourne orders arrive within 2–5 business days. Round and bevelled mirrors can take a little longer.

Do you install mirrors? No. We cut, polish and deliver the mirror. A glazier or handy home owner can fix it with mirror-safe adhesive.
