Low-E coated clear glass that cuts heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. About 12.5 kg per m².

Sizes have a tolerance of ±2mm. If the glass goes into a frame, recess or opening, enter a size 2–3mm smaller than the space so it fits.
Round toughened glass must be polished, so a round toughened piece is always priced with polished edges.
All 4 corners: the sharp point on each corner is ground off so it won’t catch skin or clothing and is less likely to chip. The glass still looks square. Recommended for table tops.

5mm Low-E clear float glass. Low-E stands for low emissivity: an almost invisible coating that reflects radiant heat back the way it came. In winter that keeps warmth inside; in summer it pushes some of the sun’s heat back out. The glass still looks clear.

At 5mm this is a small step up in weight where a 4mm pane feels too light for the opening.

Low-E and solar control glass carries a microscopically thin metal coating on one face. The coating faces a specific direction depending on whether you are chasing winter warmth or summer shade, so tell us which side of the opening it is going in and which problem you are solving. It is a soft surface: it should not be cleaned with abrasives or scrapers, and it is not suitable where the coated face will be handled or touched regularly.

Weight is about 12.5 kg per m². Any panel fitted in a door, beside a door, in a bathroom, or below 500mm from floor level must be safety glass under AS 1288. Specify toughening when you order — toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled afterwards.

ON DELIVERY DAY

Someone needs to be on site to receive and check the order. Larger and thicker panels can be heavy enough to need two people to move safely. If you are unsure about the weight of your panel, ask us before delivery day.
