Damping interlayer that absorbs noise ordinary glass passes through. The entry weight, and already a clear improvement over ordinary glass on general street noise. About 17 kg per m².

Sizes have a tolerance of ±2mm. If the glass goes into a frame, recess or opening, enter a size 2–3mm smaller than the space so it fits.
All 4 corners: the sharp point on each corner is ground off so it won’t catch skin or clothing and is less likely to chip. The glass still looks square. Recommended for table tops.
All 4 corners are ground to a small 2mm radius for a smoother feel. The glass still looks square. Recommended for table tops. Default radius is 2mm. Need a larger radius (up to 10mm)? Write it in the order notes at checkout.

Description

6.76mm acoustic laminated glass. It uses a special damping interlayer rather than the standard clear one — the interlayer absorbs the vibration that ordinary glass simply passes through, which is why it outperforms a plain laminate of the same thickness.

At 6.76mm this is the entry weight, and already a clear improvement over ordinary glass on general street noise.

A word on expectations: glass is only one part of the problem. If the frame leaks air, or there are gaps around the architrave, the noise comes through those instead and better glass will not fix it. Acoustic glass works best where the frame and seals are sound, or are being replaced at the same time.

Being laminated it is also safety glass and blocks almost all UV. It can be cut and edge-worked but not toughened after lamination. Weight is about 17 kg per m².

Cut to your exact measurements. Choose polished edges wherever the edge will be visible or handled.

HOW YOUR GLASS IS HANDLED

  • All glass meets Australian Standards.

Please check your glass before signing. If anything has been damaged in transit, tell the driver at the point of delivery and we will arrange a remake.

ON DELIVERY DAY

Someone needs to be on site to receive and check the order. Larger and thicker panels can be heavy enough to need two people to move safely. If you are unsure about the weight of your panel, ask us before delivery day.
