8mmLow Iron Glass (Super Clear) Cut to Size

8mm Low Iron Glass (Super Clear) cut to size from $299/m². A 600 × 900mm piece with polished edges is $261.46 ($300.88 toughened), delivered across Melbourne, inner Geelong and the Sydney region.

Super clear at a structural weight. Tabletops, shower screens and display glass with a visible polished edge. About 20 kg per m².

Sizes have a tolerance of ±2mm. If the glass goes into a frame, recess or opening, enter a size 2–3mm smaller than the space so it fits.
Round toughened glass must be polished, so a round toughened piece is always priced with polished edges.
All 4 corners: the sharp point on each corner is ground off so it won’t catch skin or clothing and is less likely to chip. The glass still looks square. Recommended for table tops.
All 4 corners are ground to a small 2mm radius for a smoother feel. The glass still looks square. Recommended for table tops. Default radius is 2mm. Need a larger radius (up to 10mm)? Write it in the order notes at checkout.

Description

8mm low iron float glass, also sold as super clear or extra clear. It carries almost none of the iron that gives ordinary float glass its green cast, which matters far more at this thickness — the thicker the glass, the more green you look through.

Tabletops, frameless shower screens, shelving that has to span, and display and joinery glass where the polished edge is on show. At 8mm a standard clear panel edge reads distinctly green; low iron reads almost colourless.

Weight is about 20 kg per m². Any panel fitted in a door, beside a door, in a bathroom, or below 500mm from floor level must be safety glass under AS 1288. Specify toughening when you order — toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled afterwards.

Cut to your exact measurements. Choose polished edges wherever the edge will be visible or handled.

Building a fish tank? Our aquarium glass calculator works out all five panels from your tank size, shows a 3D preview and adds them to the cart in one go.

HOW YOUR GLASS IS HANDLED

  • All glass meets Australian Standards.

Please check your glass before signing. If anything has been damaged in transit, tell the driver at the point of delivery and we will arrange a remake.

ON DELIVERY DAY

Someone needs to be on site to receive and check the order. Larger and thicker panels can be heavy enough to need two people to move safely. If you are unsure about the weight of your panel, ask us before delivery day.
