5mmLow Iron Glass (Super Clear) Cut to Size

5mm Low Iron Glass (Super Clear) cut to size from $227/m². A 600 × 900mm piece with polished edges is $210.58 ($234.88 toughened), delivered across Melbourne, inner Geelong and the Sydney region.

Super clear glass with no green edge tint. Shelving, cabinet glazing and pale splashbacks. About 12.5 kg per m².

Sizes have a tolerance of ±2mm. If the glass goes into a frame, recess or opening, enter a size 2–3mm smaller than the space so it fits.
Round toughened glass must be polished, so a round toughened piece is always priced with polished edges.
All 4 corners: the sharp point on each corner is ground off so it won’t catch skin or clothing and is less likely to chip. The glass still looks square. Recommended for table tops.
All 4 corners are ground to a small 2mm radius for a smoother feel. The glass still looks square. Recommended for table tops. Default radius is 2mm. Need a larger radius (up to 10mm)? Write it in the order notes at checkout.

Description

5mm low iron float glass, also sold as super clear or extra clear. Ordinary float glass contains enough iron to give it a green cast, which you see most on the exposed edge and through the thickness. Low iron removes almost all of it.

Shelving and cabinet glazing over white or pale finishes, picture framing, and splashbacks painted a light colour — anywhere standard glass would push the colour green.

The difference is subtle face-on and obvious on the edge, so low iron is most worth paying for where an edge is exposed or where the glass sits over a colour you care about. Weight is about 12.5 kg per m². Any panel fitted in a door, beside a door, in a bathroom, or below 500mm from floor level must be safety glass under AS 1288.

Cut to your exact measurements. Choose polished edges wherever the edge will be visible or handled.

HOW YOUR GLASS IS HANDLED

  • All glass meets Australian Standards.

Please check your glass before signing. If anything has been damaged in transit, tell the driver at the point of delivery and we will arrange a remake.

ON DELIVERY DAY

Someone needs to be on site to receive and check the order. Larger and thicker panels can be heavy enough to need two people to move safely. If you are unsure about the weight of your panel, ask us before delivery day.
